Maldives Police Service (MPS) has publicised the details of the three men arrested for blackmailing people using the videos showing Bangladesh resident Alamghir and other men.

MPS said on Sunday that they arrested 5 individuals accused for videotaping men engaging in homosexuality and blackmailing them for money with threats of leaking the videos. MPS said court had released two of the five arrested.

The men in MPS custody are Alamghir’s ‘boss’, Hamdhoon Abdulla, B. Dharavandhoo; Mohamed Mihadh Mustafa, B. Dharavandhoo; and Maumoon Moosa, Sh. Funadhoo.

Hamdhoon and Mustafa were arrested on 18 September and Maumoon was arrested on 20 September. Criminal Court has ordered a 15-day remand for Hamdhoon and a 7-day remand for Mustafa, and a 10-day remand for Maumoon.
