Housing Ministry has extended the deadline for the 'Binveriya' Scheme.

The housing scheme was introduced on 22 June 2022 to allocate 3,000 land plots from Hulhumale' and Gulhifalhu for Male' residents. The deadline for applications was set for 26 September 2022.

However, Housing Ministry made an announcement on Tuesday that the deadline for application has been extended until 15 October.

Housing Ministry said the 'Binveriya' scheme regulations have been revised on Thursday. As such, the Ministry is extending the deadline.

The ministry had brought changes to the eligibility criteria which previously stated that Male' residents are considered to be people who have not been registered to any other island in the past. However, with the revision to the eligibility criteria, people who have been registered to other islands due to government policies, whose either parent is a Male' resident, are considered as Male' residents.
