The Chinese government has donated 3,000 street lights to Male' City Council.

Chinese Ambassador Wang Lixin handed over the items to Male' City Council during a ceremony held on Monday. Male' City Mayor, Dr Mohamed Muizz received the items on behalf of the council.

During the ceremony, Muizz noted that with the generous donation by the Chinese government, the safety of Male' residents will be further strengthened. He further added that with this, they will be able to replace a lot of older street lights with more modern, LED lights.

Muizz also thanked the Chinese government for their continuous assistance in the development of Male' City. He recognized China as a key developmental partner, who had provided assistance through unwavering respect and equality to the Maldives.
