An Indian national who was arrested for defecating at Islamic Centre has been released.
Criminal Court ordered a 1-day remand for the expat who was arrested around 2200hrs on Friday night, since a court translator was not arranged by Police.
Maldives Police Service (MPS) told 'One' on Sunday that the expat has been released after his remand period, but did not provide further details.
The 52-year-old Indian man who was arrested for defecating at Islamic Centre is currently residing in Maldives on a valid visa. According to his remand order from the Court, the man is employed at a resort in the Maldives and came to Male' on Friday night for dinner.
MPS accused the man of committing an offense in violation of public interest. MPS also submitted evidence to back the accusation.
