Prominent Maldivian religious scholar, Adam Naseem has passed away.

Naseem passed away at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital this morning. He was seeking treatment at the hospital after having been ill for some time.

At the time of his death, he was 80 years of age and left behind four children.

Naseem's son, Ahmed Mubarak Naseem revealed to One Online that Naseem's funeral will be held today after the noon prayer, at the Islamic Center.

Naseem was often referred to as BA Naseem, after he was among the first few people to obtain a degree in English Language in the Maldives.
