Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has stated that the presidential pledges targeted at Addu has been met with unsatisfactory delivery by the government.

While meeting the residents of Maradhoo, Speaker Nasheed agreed that the pledges by MDP for the people of Addu has not been delivered in a satisfactory manner.

He further added that conducting the same projects on smaller and larger islands is not a good practice and that developmental projects should be based on the populations of the islands.

On this note, he added that Addu is a big city and its development would bring advantages to the entire nation.

Under a Line of Credit of USD 800 million from India's Exim Bank, the government is conducting various projects in Addu. This includes projects in Gan International Airport, Garment Factory and Land Reclaimation.
