President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that the Late Queen Elizabeth II gave Maldives the opportunity to speak in the international arena.
The First Couple signed the book of condolence for the Queen at the British High Commission in Maldives on Wednesday afternoon.
The President and First Lady Fazna described Queen Elizabeth II as the finest example of loyalty to duty, sacrifice, and selfless service. The First Couple said the Queen served the UK, the Commonwealth, and international community with utmost dedication.
In their message of condolence, the First Couple also stated that the Queen held an exalted place with the Maldivians. Their message noted that the citizens of Maldives held her in the highest regard, referring to her as 'Raanee', as a tribute to her uniqueness in her eminence and tireless work through Commonwealth to give equal representation to nations like Maldives.
The Late Queen Elizabeth II reigned for 70 years until passing away at the age of 96.
