President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has concluded his visit to L. Gan, stating that the Viavathi Raajje Conference has been a success.

President stated that the amount of complaints and concerns raised have decreased in number.

Viavathi Raajje is an initiative by the President that is aimed for Island Councils and Women's Development Committees (WDC) across the Maldives. The first edition was held at Crossroads, the second edition at AA. Ukulhas, and the third at L. Gan.

President Solih said the objective of the conference was to review effective implementation of decentralisation policies, and to ensure that people's aspirations for development are being met.

During the two-day conference, four sessions were held with presentations and discussions of various subjects including gender equality, formulation of land-use plans, fiscal autonomy of local councils, and building resilient communities. The local councils and WDC's raised their concerns with the President and discussed solutions together with the relevant parties.

The third edition of the conference saw over 270 participants including 107 council members and WDC representatives.

The fourth edition of Viavathi Raajje conference is set to be held in January 2023.
