The Maldives has rises 7 ranks in the Human Rights Development Index according to United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The Maldives ranked at 90th in the Human Rights Development Index this year, compared to 97th in 2021.
The Maldives has seen a fluctuation in the nation's ranking - 104th in 2018, 95th in 2019, and 97th in 2021 before rising to 90th in 2022.
UNDP stated that Maldives will be considered among the high development category, with the current ranking. Apart from Maldives, Sri Lanka is among the high development category from South Asia, ranking at 73rd.
The Human Rights Development Index is based on three indicators to measure development - access to education, access to a healthy lifestyle, and right to a dignified life.
