Bar Council has decided it cannot review the disciplinary case against lawyer Nazim Sattar, asking for temporary suspension of his license.
The case was submitted to Bar Council on 6 July by lawyer Ahmed Thalib, asking for a temporary suspension of Nazim's license since he has an open investigation ongoing against him.
Bar Council's President Ismail Visham told 'One' that under Article 54 of the Legal Professions Act, the Council cannot review the case submitted against Nazim as the complaint does not surround Nazim's work in the legal profession.
He added that Article 54 needs revisions and that the Bar Council is working on drafting the revision to be submitted to the Parliament.
Nazim has been charged with engaging in homosexuality with a Bangladesh resident, Alamghir, after videos were leaked online.
