Manta Air has launched scheduled operations between Velana International Airport (VIA) and Hoarafushi Airport.
In a press brief, the airline revealed that flights to Haa Alif Atoll Hoarafushi had commenced on Monday. This marks the first time that the airline is operating scheduled flights to an airport managed by the Regional Airports Company Limited (RACL).
The inaugural flight of Manta Air to the airport was welcomed by senior members of RACL, members of the island council, and JA Manafaru resort.
RACL revealed that Manta Air will be operating two flights daily to Hoarafushi Airport.
Hoarafushi Airport, HDh. Hanimaadhoo International Airport, HDh. Kulhudhuffushi Airport, Sh. Funadhoo Airport, GDh. Maavarulu Airport and Fuvahmulah Airport are managed under RACL.
The company revealed that its aim is to further ease inter-atoll travel and develop the transportation services.
As such they had recently upgraded screening monitors to comply with the Directorate of Aviation Security Administration (DASA) standards.
