Home Minister and President of Adhaalat Party (AP), Imran Abdulla, has said that he hopes to see an AP candidate as president in 2033.

Imran made the comments on Twitter following AP's council meeting to strategise on a 10-year plan.

"God willing, an AP candidate will be President in 2033", Imran tweeted.

AP has not announced candidature for the 2023 Presidential Elections yet. However, Jumhooree Party, which forms the current coalition government together with AP, MRM and MDP has announced candidature for 2023 elections though they have not named their candidate yet.

MRM has not announced candidature either, although former president and party leader Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom has stated that the party's aim is to secure presidency in the future.
