Maldives Employment Tribunal has ordered a compensation of MVR 215,880 to be paid to John Grindal over his dismissal case.

Grindal was appointed as CEO of Pension Office on 25 December 2020, but dismissed from his post on 12 October 2021 for breaching code of conduct.

Following Grindal's appeal at Tribunal, the latter stated that Grindal cannot be reinstated to his post as he was dismissed for breaching code of conduct.

However, the Tribunal cited lack of procedural fairness in Grindal's dismissal and ordered a compensation of MVR 215,880 - the equivalent of one month salary - to be paid to him.
