The Maldives Immigration Department has announced a search for an escaped foreigner from the Velana International Airport (VIA) Detention Center.

They noted that the case was reported during the early hours of Friday morning, and added that the escaped foreigner is a 26-year-old Bangladeshi man, Mohammad Mithun.

Immigration has instructed anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Mithun to contact them at 7980408.

The Media Official at Immigration revealed that the escaped immigration fugitive had been deported for a period of 10 years in 2019, under the work visa regulation.

He had arrived to the Maldives last Wednesday, and was detained from thereon.
