A parking zone has been developed in Ameenee Magu in order to facilitate the mini bus services scheduled to start next Monday.

Male’ City Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu revealed via Twitter that a 335 motorcycle parking zone has been established in Ameenee Magu as part of the efforts to launch mini bus services in Male’ City.

In order to begin the services, the City Council had previously declared Majeedhee Magu a no parking zone. Deputy Mayor Ahmed Nareesh had previously revealed that MTCC had requested to ban parking in certain areas to support the project, and that the prohibition of parking in Majeedhee Magu was in support of it.

He added that prior to this the council had refused to comply since there were no areas set for additional parking. However, they have now received places where parking could be shifted.

Mini bus ticket prices have been set at MVR 7 by the administration while the charges will be free for toddlers under the age of three years, elderly citizens, and school children in uniform.

MTCC began test driving mini buses on 20 August 2022, with test drives set to run for two weeks before officially commencing.

Mini buses will operate on Majeedhee Magu, Ameenee Magu, Orchid Magu, and Bodu Thakurufaanu Magu, with 18 stops on each road.
