A fire incident at a godown in a residential building has caused massive damage in Ha. Ihavandhoo.

Ihavandhoo Council's President, Ahmed Sobah told 'One' that the fire broke out in a room being used as a godown in a 3 room apartment around 1145hrs on Friday. Although no one was hurt in the incident, the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

"The fire started in a room used as a godown to store timber. The godown was a in a separate apartment built inside the premises of the house", Sobah said.

The fire was put out by the Council and Police, together with the citizens. However, the fire caused massive damage to the property and appliances, leaving the apartment uninhabitable.

Sobah said the Council is working with Police and National Disaster Management Centre to provide aid to the affected family.
