Over 80 applications have been submitted for the Maldives Journalism Award presented by Maldives Media Council (MMC).

In a statement released on Thursday, MMC revealed that they had received 82 applications over 12 categories for the award.

The award categories for the year include; investigative journalism, sustainable development and social, political, judiciary and law, business and economy, sports, photo journalism, video journalism, graphics and illustration, feature, promising journalist, and journalist of the year.

MMC added that they have received applications in all of the categories.

The ceremony is set to be held on September 11th.
