A Maldivian man has been arrested for smuggling drugs through post.

Maldives Customs Service said a parcel containing 526 grams of drugs was discovered and seized on 29 June 2022 during routine parcel check.

The substance in the parcel tested positive for Mephedrone, and is valued at MVR 1 million.

This is the second arrest made for smuggling Mephedrone in 2022. The first arrest was made after a man tried smuggling 585 grams of Mephedrone through courier services in March.
