Maldives Police Service (MPS) has appealed to locate Ibrahim Rafiu, 54, for investigation into the ongoing homosexuality case against him.

Rafiu's whereabouts are unknown and MPS issued a statement that he is required to present himself to Police before 11 September 2022 for investigation.

A video was leaked earlier in August, alleging Rafiu of engaging in homosexuality with Bangladesh resident, Alamghir. Rafiu - former Senior Executive at the National Centre for the Holy Quran - is believed to have fled the Maldives in the midst of the ongoing investigation against him.

The leaked video shows Rafiu asking the Bangladesh resident if there are cameras in the room, which the latter is heard denying.

Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) has charged three men - Nazim Sattar, (Kaanal) Mohamed Nasheed, and Abdul Rahman Rauf - alongside Alamghir with engaging in homosexuality.
