Maldives Police Service (MPS) has said the immigrant injured in Monday night's attack was trying to stop the burglary.

MPS said on Tuesday morning that a burglar had been attacked with an axe during a break-in. However, MPS said on Tuesday night that the man attacked with an axe was trying to stop the burglar.

MPS received report of the attack on Monday night around 2355hrs and the injured immigrant is currently receiving medical treatment at IGMH.

No arrests have been made as of yet.
