A doctor who refused to consult a sick 1-year-old patient in Haa Alif Hoarafushi Health Center is said to be dismissed from the position soon.

A man who rushed his 1-year-old child with a high fever to the hedical center recounted the incident on social media, noting that he waited for over an hour for his token number, at which point the doctor had refused to consult the patient stating he needed sleep.

He added that by the time treatment began with the help of the nurses, it had already been three hours since they went to the health center. Sources revealed to ONE Online that the child is receiving in-patient treatment at the health center.

Speaking to One Online regarding the incident, the Manager Ibrahim Rasheed noted that he had contacted the doctor immediately after receiving the report, where the doctor had refused to consult the patient once again. The issue was flagged with the Haa Alif Atoll Hospital last night. '

Rasheed further added that they are currently in the process of terminating the doctor, and added that they have no plans to report him to work.

He highlighted that while there are two doctors at the Health Center, the current doctor is from Nigeria and has had several such complaints against him. A written warning has also been given before, which had failed to bring any positive changes to the attitude of the doctor.
