Hulhumale' Magistrate Court has ordered to remand the man who attacked Ali Solih for 15 days.
Ali Solih is the Spokesperson for Jumhooree Party (JP), and fills in as the State Minister for the Environment Ministry.
A video of the attack, where a man had stepped in front of the motorcycle Ali Solih was on and tried to slash him with a straight razor had also gone viral on social media. The video shows the struggle between Ali Solih and the attacker, with Solih trying to flee the scene on the motorcycle while the man tried to attack his neck several times.
After sustaining an injury to his hand, Solih is seen running away from the scene on foot before onlookers tried to calm the situation.
Police had arrested a 43 year old man in relation to the attack, and confirmed that the Hulhumale' Magistrate Court had ordered to remand him for 15 days.
The man was previously arrested for causing a commotion at the Salman Mosque. It was noted that the man is mentally ill at the time of his release from custody.
