Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Services has approved to appoint Aishath Shan Shakir as non-resident ambassador to six countries.

Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed forwarded her name to the committee last Thursday, after President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih forwarded the nomination to appoint her as the non-resident ambassador to six countries.

After looking into the motion, the committee approved her name on Monday.

Aishath Shan Shakir is approved by the committee to be the non-resident ambassador for the Russia Federation; Republic of Finland; Kingdom of Sweden; Kingdom of Norway; Denmark and Ukraine.

The committee will now forward her name to the Parliament floor, where members will decide on approving the name.

Aishath Shan Shakir is currently filling in as the Ambassador of the Maldives to Germany.
