President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that there are challenges that need to be resolved to ensure island councils operate better.

President Solih made the remarks on Twitter following his meeting with Addu City Council members on Monday afternoon.

At the meeting, President Solih and council members discussed the ongoing developmental projects in Addu. The council members thanked the administration noting that Addu City is one of the cities with the highest number of ongoing development projects.

The council members also expressed their concerns at the meeting. President Solih assured the administration will work to address the challenges faced by the council's following the new amendments to the Decentralisation Act.

Addu constituency MP's also attended the meeting with the council.
