Speaker of Parliament and President of MDP, Mohamed Nasheed has found himself in hot water after questioning the legitimacy of participating branches in the MDP Congress.

Debating on the proposed amendments to the regulations of MDP, Nasheed questioned the legitimacy of participating branches of the party. Participants expressed their dislike towards the statement during the congress. They had caused pandemonium and put an abrupt stop to the debate.

Speaker Nasheed had further stated that the branches are not functioning as efficiently as they should. As such he noted how some Presidents stay in Male', which fails to draw in a significant participation from the corresponding branch.
