Maldives Democratic Alliance (MDA)'s president and Meedhoo Constituency MP Ahmed Siyam (Sun Siyam) has stated that MDA does not need to form a coalition to win the 2023 presidential elections.
Siyam made the remarks on Thursday during a press conference following MDA's extraordinary congress.
Siyam said that the public wants an effective healthcare system and sustainable lifestyle. He added that MDA can fulfil the public needs.
Speaking about corruption in the Maldives, Siyam said the Maldives needs a president who has not been accused of corruption. Siyam added that the state receives maximum tax from him as well.
Siyam has announced his candidacy for 2023 presidential elections, and said that MDA's current priority is to reach 50,000 members. He stated that the remaining political parties cannot win the elections without a coalition and that he is against changing the presidential system of governance in the Maldives.
