Passports of 18 individuals have been seized as Maldives Police Service (MPS) double down on investigations over the leaked videos.

MPS said the passport's were seized to ensure said individuals would not leave the country while investigations are ongoing.

MPS has made several arrests in relations to the leaked videos, including lawyer Nazim Sattar and former MP (Kaanal) Nasheed, whose passports have also been seized in the process. The Bangladeshi resident Alamghir's passport has been seized as well.

A senior executive at Islamic Ministry, Ibrahim Rifau, was fired from the Ministry - alleged of partaking in sexual acts with Alamghir. A video clip of a man alleged to be Rifau was leaked on Monday.

Multiple people including political figures and ministerial staff have been accused of engaging in sexual acts with Alamghir, with 3 arrests made so far - including Nazim Sattar, (Kaanal) Nasheed, and an officer from MPS Drug Enforcement Department.

Former journalist Ali Naseer was also arrested over a separate leaked video of the same nature.
