Criminal Court has ordered to remand Ali Shahil, who was arrested in connection to the brutal murder of Shiaau Mohamed, until the end of the trial.
The court ordered to remand him till the end of his trial during a closed hearing held on Sunday morning.
Media Official at the Criminal Court, Amaan Mohamed Najeeb revealed to ONE Online that the judge decide to hold the hearing behind closed doors on the request of Maldives Police Service. However, the reason behind the request remains unclear at the time of press.
As the investigation is ongoing, police is yet to comment on the case.
A source who saw the dead body revealed to ONE Online that the limbs of the woman had been butchered. The hands were butchered from the elbow, while it remains unclear as to where the legs were butchered from.
A ONE Online journalist at the scene reported that the body was carried to an ambulance in two body bags, and that the body was taken to Galolhu Mortuary.
The suspect was arrested in a hazmat suit and taken under police custody.
