The academic new year has begun today, with over 93,000 students across the nation.

According to the Ministry of Education, 93,278 students are studying in government and private schools. This includes 76,932 students in 217 government schools.

This academic year marks 7,700 new students with around 3,000 students moving onto Grade 1 in Greater Male' Area.

Education Ministry noted that with the new academic year, there will be 8,364 teachers in the Maldives. This includes 1,693 foreigners and 6,006 local teachers and 665 relief teachers.
