The mutilated body of a woman has been discovered inside a residence in Male' City.

Maldives Police Service confirmed that they are active on a crime scene, after having received reports of a dead body found in Male'.

A Maldivian male was arrested in connection to the case, however, Police did not reveal any further information regarding the arrest.

A source who saw the dead body revealed to ONE Online that the limbs of the woman had been butchered. The hands were butchered from the elbow, while it remains unclear as to where the legs were butchered from.

A ONE Online journalist at the scene reported that the body was carried to an ambulance in two body bags, and that the body was taken to Galolhu Mortuary.

The suspect was arrested in a hazmat suit and taken under police custody.
