Former Gender Minister Shidhatha Shareef has been appointed Spokesperson of Maldives National Party (MNP).
Shidhatha was appointed following the resignation of MNP's former spokesperson, Asra Ahmed.
MNP said Shidhatha's experience would add value to the party.
At a ceremony held to introduce the new MNP spokesperson on Thursday, Shidhatha said the political scenario in the Maldives is uncertain, and that she has remained steadfast in raising her voice to uphold the rule of law.
MNP's President Colonel (Rtd) Mohamed Nazim said MNP was formed with a nationalist ideology, and that the party has remained steadfast in their vision. He added that Shidhatha's experience plays a vital role in how MNP will work in the future.
