The 'Maldives Tourism Update' published by Tourism Ministry reveals that total number of tourist arrivals to the Maldives this year has crossed 900,000.

A total of 900,808 tourists have arrived in the Maldives till date this year, compared to 572,123 tourist arrivals in this period last year.

India leads the market with 132,151 tourist arrivals so far in 2022.

The top ten tourist markets this year include:

  • India - 132,151 arrivals
  • England - 104,667 arrivals
  • Russia - 94,151 arrivals
  • Germany - 73,118 arrivals
  • Italy - 51,850 arrivals
  • America - 43,653 arrivals
  • France - 31,024 arrivals
  • Switzerland - 21,619 arrivals
  • Saudi Arabia - 19,982 arrivals
  • Spain - 18,602 arrivals

According to Tourism Ministry statistics, daily tourist arrivals have been averaging at 4,482, with an average of 8 nights spent in the country.

The government's aims to have 1.6 million tourist arrivals in the country this year.
