Morocco has opened a Consulate office in the Maldives for the first time.

The Moroccan Consulate in Maldives was officially opened by the Moroccan Ambassador in New Delhi, Mohammed Maliki and Maldives Foreign Secretary, Ahmed Latheef.

Prominent businessman Ahmed Nasheed (ADK Nasheed) was appointed as the Honorary Consul yesterday.

Moroccan Ambassador Maliki noted that the opening of the Consul lays the ground work to further strengthen the ties between the two countries.
