Ismail Abdul Raheem (Isu) who was arrested in connection with the murder cases of Ahmed Rilwan has been presented to the Commission on Disappearances and Deaths (DDCom).

ONE has learned that Isu was presented before the DDCom yesterday afternoon, however, the commission did not reveal any further details.

Maldives Police Service arrested Ahmed Ismail (Buru Ahandhu), Ahmed Muaz (Gut Mua) along with Isu in connection with the murder cases of Ahmed Rilwan and Yameen Rasheed on July 2nd. They were arrested under a court order following investigations by the DDCom, where the court decided to keep them detained until the end of their trial.

Police noted that all three men were suspected of involvement in committing acts of terrorism in planning and executing the crimes related to the two cases and facilitating the crimes.

Ahmed Rilwan Abdulla was last seen on August 8, 2014. He is believed to have been abducted and murdered. Yameen Rasheed, 29, was a prominent blogger and rights activist, who was stabbed to death in the stairwell of his residence in Male’ City on April 23, 2017.
