Maldivian Aviation Academy (MAA) has begun flying classes for their student pilots.

Maldivian Aviation Academy is based in Addu City is a joint venture formed between Maldives National University (MNU) and Island Aviation Services (IAS), in partnership with the flying academy of Czech Republic.

The academy commenced flight training exercises on Sunday after receiving license to operate from the Maldives Civil Aviation Authority.

IAS revealed that the current batch includes 35 students, which are all students who were previously studying at the Asian Academy of Aeronautics (AAA) before they shut down their operations. The 35 students have completed a refresher program under MAA and will continue to build up their flight hours with the academy.

While the first batch of students has begun flying exercises, a second batch consisting of 39 students are currently going through their refresher program.

They further added that the goal is to finish the flying exercises of the first two batches by the end of the year, and begin the refresher program for a third batch.
