Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has announced the Authority received MVR 2.32 billion in tax revenue in June.
Statistics published by MIRA reveal that June 2022 revenue was up by 95.1% owing to the increment in Income Tax collection compared to June 2021. Increased tourist arrivals in May 2022 added to TGST, Green Tax and Airport Taxes and Fees, MIRA revealed. Furthermore, MIRA also received acquisition cost for newly leased islands from the government as well as Tourism Administrative Fee which led to the higher revenue as per the Authority.
MIRA statistics revealed revenue collection surpassed the forecasted revenue by 74.1% due to the increment in Corporate Income Tax and Bank Income Tax.
According to statistics, top revenue contributor for June was Income Tax with a 36.5% of total tax revenue, followed by GST at 26.2% and Tourism Land Rent at 18%. Land acquisition and conversion fee contributed 6.7% to tax revenue while Green Tax contributed 3.1% of total tax revenue in June.
