Former President Mohamed Nasheed has said that all local agricultural produce in Maldives will be sold, under Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Parliamentary campaign policy, Agenda ‘19.

President Nasheed said this while speaking at an event of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP). He noted that all local agricultural produce from farmers will be purchased by a company that has shares of the government.

He said that after the framers have generated produce, it would then be the the job of this company to market and sell produce. The former President noted that this is one of the most significant aims of Agenda ‘19.

He noted in his speech that he had fulfilled all campaign pledges he made to the people of Maldives during his campaign for President in 2008.

President Nasheed had assumed the Presidency under the newly composed “green” Constitution in 2008 with the dawn of democracy in Maldives and stayed in power for 3 years.

He noted that an aim of 2008 had been to ensure that at least 20 percent of all agricultural produce used in Maldives are locally sourced. He said that this had been accomplished even further than 20 percent within the three years of his previous administration.

President Nasheed noted that the current administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is the second government of Maldivian Democratic Party.

He said that President Solih would complete his campaign pledges from word to word through MDP’s Parliamentary Campaign policy, Agenda ‘19.
