Former President, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, has said that he wants the next parliament to have a majority with with political parties in the government coalition.

He said that it is not important for one party to have the majority at the parliament.

Maumoon made the statement at the parliament campaign launch event of Ibrahim Ziyath, running for the North Henvieru constituency.

The former President said that every constituency needs a person loyal to the nation and that person does not have to be a member of the Maldives Reform Movement (MRM).

He said that the MRM candidates in the parliament election would be people willing to work towards reform.

The aim of MRM is to have a parliament who works for reform according to the former President.
