Former President Mohamed Nasheed has said that the opportunity to host tourists at local island homes has been included in Maldivian Democratic Party’s Agenda ‘19. Agenda ‘19 is the culmination of the party’s Parliamentary Campaign Policy for the upcoming elections.
President Nasheed said this while speaking at the campaign inauguration of Parliamentary hopeful for the Thulhaadhoo constituency, Hisaan Hussain at Baa Atoll Goidhoo this afternoon.
He noted in his speech that since Parliament had been established in Maldives in 1932, the institution has been working to accomplish the bare minimum for its people. President Nasheed said that the Parliament had directed efforts towards ensuring that the Maldivian people are clothed at least. He said that however, new efforts are being taken to ensure that the opportunity to gain a free higher education is provided for all under MDP’s Agenda ‘19.
The former President noted that the goal is to ensure that the maximum number of Maldivians get a higher education. He added that the aim is to also establish this effort for future generations and added that this can be accomplished through Agenda ‘19.
President Nasheed noted that there is currently no direct transport connection between the islands in the Thulhaadhoo constituency and Male’. He said that the transport route will be
established through Agenda ‘19.
The former President noted that Parliamentary hopeful Hisaan was an integral part of forming this current government and added that she is still a significant part of it.
He immensely noted the value of Hisaan and said that her ties to the government will remain steadfast.
