STELCO wraps up electric cable works in Kudagiri Picnic Island

State Electric Company (STELCO) has completed electric cable laying works in Kaafu Kudagiri Island, with about 3,000 meters of cable being laid on the island.

STELCO noted that they aimed to finish the work and do the handover within 15 days after the government awarded them the project. As such, STELCO began working on the project on May 26th.

The company further added that the remaining works are the installation of electricity distribution boxes and street lamps and the provision of electricity to the island.

STELCO also highlighted that they are currently researching on implementing renewable energy sources on the island to support the island's energy needs. The development of a picnic island for Male' residents is a presidential pledge by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

The development of Kudagiri Picnic Island was handed over to MTCC by Planning and Housing Ministry.
