President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has declared an increase in teacher's salaries as per his presidential pledge.
President Solih made the announcement during his presidential address today, stating that the education sector and building an educated generation is one of the top priorities of the current administration. As such, he added that starting 1st of May, teachers' salaries will be raised.
He added that with the new salary structure, teachers will now receive a substantial raise in pay excluding their overtime pay.
President Solih also addressed the challenges faced by the education sector in Maldives, adding that his administration will work on solving issues faced by teachers such as the lack of resources, and ensure teachers' rights.
Salary increments for teachers and principals in education sector is one of presidential pledges of President Solih.
