Chief of Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF), Major General Abdulla Shamaal, has said that measures will be taken against Major Naveen Zubaid for receiving funds from SOF Pvt Ltd.

The company, SOF Pvt Ltd has been revealed to have transferred funds acquired through corruption at Maldives Marketing and Public relations Corporation (MMPRC). The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) revealed a report citing names and companies that received these funds last Thursday.

The Major General said this at a press conference held today to provide an update regarding the work of various sections within the National Defense Force. He had responded to a question psed at the press conference. He said that Major Naveen is currently abroad on a two or three week workshop.

The Chief of MNDF added that as such, there are several limitations in questioning Major Naveen at this time. He said that it was revealed that Major Naveen Zubair had received funds from SOF Pvt Ltd, only after the ACC report was made public.

Major General Abdulla Shamaal said that measures will be taken against Major Naveen in accordance with government policy regarding such matters.

The ACC report on corruption at MMPRC had revealed that Major Naveen Zubair of the National defense Force had received USD 100,000 from SOF Pvt Ltd.
