Maldives Police Service (MPS) has reported that they are investigation of money laundering against the President of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Hassan Luthfee.
Police have confirmed to One Online that there is in fact an investigation against Hassan Luthfee regarding money laundering.
MPS informed that the case is being investigated and that they are unable to give any more information at this time.
Several media have reported that there is an investigation into the matter involving Luthfee and multiple other people. Several people have also been reportedly summoned for interrogation by MPS regarding the case.
MPS had however not mentioned to One Online that there were several others involved in the case.
“Mihaaru” news has reported that Luthfee has not been summoned to MPS for questioning regarding the case. The news has also reported that Luthfee had left on a visit to Malaysia a few days before.
While the President of ACC Hassan Luthfee is being currently being investigated for money laundering, the ACC had revealed a report on corruption and money laundering at MMPRC, last Thursday. Many have said that the report released by ACC is lacking in significant details.
Some have said that the report had been released without a full investigation. There are also those that have said that the report was published after intentionally omitting certain names.
There are allegations that state that the report only revealed names and amounts where a dollar exchange had taken place. These people have claimed that cash finances exchanged were not at all reported and have urged the ACC to reveal those names as well.
