Deputy Leader of Jumhooree Party (JP) Ameen Ibrahim has said that various significant details have not been revealed in the ACC report on corruption at MMPRC.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) had recently revealed a report on acts of corruption at Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) during former President Yameen’s administration.
Ameen took to twitter to make this observation and reiterated that these details have been either intentionally discluded or not looked into, in the first place. He raised the question as to when the ACC would go on to reveal the missing information.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) had revealed a 776 page report on corruption at MMPRC this past Thursday. The report had revealed names of those that received funds from SOF Pvt. Ltd that had been used to launder finances of MMPRC. These names include members of Parliament, various major companies as well as the Minister of Sports, Youth and Community Empowerment Ahmed Mahloof.
However, there are many who claim that the report is incomplete as of now.
The previous Auditor General who spearheaded the initial investigation into MMPRC, Niyaz Ibrahim has also said that there are gaps in information revealed in the report.
Several Attorneys at law have also said that the report is incomplete.
The report by ACC stated that while the USD 77.5 million earned through acquisition cost of islands and lagoons is owed to the State, only USD 12 million has been handed over.
