Former President Mohamed Nasheed has said that the debt owed by Maldives will be cut down by end of the next five years of President Solih’s presidency.

President Nasheed said this today, while speaking to the press after returning to Male’ from a visit to India. He said that he truly believes that debt owed by Maldives will be cut down by the end of President Solih’s term.  

The former President said that Maldives will hopefully close the gap between the country’s income and expenditure. He said that Maldives is currently on the right course to achieve this.

Former President Nasheed had departed on his visit to India on 12 February.
