Male’ City Council: Vehicle imports to Male’ needs to be cut down

Male’ City Council has said that vehicle imports to Male’ need to be cut down.

Mayor of Male’ City, Shifa Mohamed, spoke to the press today and said that the Council is currently in discussions with the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation regarding the matter.

The Mayor reiterated that the Council has requested the Ministry to check the model and width of imported vehicles.

Mayor Shifa noted that as there are several old and damaged vehicles on the streets and added that these vehicles go on to fall apart where they stand.

Additionally, she said that parking zones need to be increased with Male’ City as well. As such, Shifa said that all empty plots without construction can be utilized as parking spaces. She noted that this will provide major ease in pedestrian traffic and vehicle congestion within Male’.
