President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that today marks the beginning of action in protecting government institutions from the ravages of corruption, theft and discord.
The President made this declaration while speaking at the inaugural launching of the “Zero Tolerance to Corruption” campaign today. He said that the current efforts are merely the beginning of the action phase, after several previous years of discussion on changing governance of Maldives to a just one.
The President took to remembering the beginning of his administration and added that he had announced the policy on the fight against corruption, on the very first day of his term.
As such, President Solih said that one of the 100 day pledges had been to ensure that officials in government positions will declare financial income and assets. He noted that the work has begun in bringing this pledge to fruition.
The President added that these efforts will become even better in the future.
