President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has taken the decision to create a completely government owned company titled “Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation” Ltd. to provide affordable housing. President Solih took this decision under advisement of the Economic Council. The move is being made under the pledge of the current administration to provide affordable housing for Maldivians.
The President’s Office informed that all efforts to provide affordable housing for Maldivians all across the country will be undertaken by the company. As such, all future projects in the same area will also reportedly be undertaken by the company.
The work of the new company will take place, guided by the Housing Needs Assessment composed by the government. The work of the company is to ensure that fair and trustworthy policy governs housing for Maldivians. The government aims to provide a financially comfortable environment and as such, aims to introduce tools to achieve this goal.
