President Solih has said that any decentralisation efforts that ignores women’s empowerment is not a true decentralised system.

The President said this while speaking at the inaugural ceremony launching the National Symposium of City and Local Councils event.

President Solih said that the committees and powers that work for the progress of women as dictated by the law need to be made better than it is now.

As such, the President said that it will be difficult to expand women’s role and participation in development efforts.

President Solih said that establishing a decentralized system to ensure these efforts have been spoken of for a very long time. The President reiterated that proposing these reforms to Parliament is one of the 100 day pledges of his presidency.
