Former Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed, has said that he believes that  a centralized system of governance will be established if MDP wins majority in upcoming Parliamentary elections.

Speaking on "Avas Hukuru" program, Dr. Jameel said that electing those who call for a centralized system of governance will put the nation in danger.

He raised the question whether reforming the system of governance following Parliamentary elections is the best option. He asked whether electing a Prime Minister and President after elections  while there are currently no fewer issues to address in this country is a proper move. Dr. Jameel added that he truly does not believe that, the change in system of government as such is a move in the right direction.

The former VP highlighted that while MDP has been posed with the question of establishing a centralized system of governance, they have not denied it.

Dr. Jameel said that MDP has to divulge the reasoning behind this manner of thinking and said that it is important to reveal true purposes behind this move to attempt to change governance.
